A message from the Senate, by Mr. Cutts, their Secretary: Mr. Speaker: The Senate have been notified by the President of the United States, that he did, on the 26th instant, approve and sign An act for the relief of Alexander Scott, late Collector of Pensasacola; An act for the relief of John H. Howland, of New York; An act explanatory of an act for the relief of the officers, volunteers, and other persons, engaged in the late campaign against the Seminole Indians, passed 4th May, 1822; An act supplementary to the several acts providing for ascertaining and adjusting the titles and claims to land in the St. Helena and Jackson Court house Land Districts; An act explanatory of an act entitled "An act to provide for the extinguishment of the debt due to the United States by the purchas ers of the public lands," approved on the 18th of May, 1824; An act supplementary to an act passed on the 18th of June, 1812, entitled "An act making further provision for settling the claims to land in the territory of Missouri;" An act in further addition to an act to establish an uniform rule of naturalization, and to repeal the acts heretofore passed on that subject; An act to complete the survey of the southern and western boundary of the state of Missouri; An act authorizing an examination and survey of the harbor of Charleston, in South Carolina, of St. Mary's, in Georgia, and of the Coast of Florida, and for other purposes; Resolution providing a place of deposite for the portrait of Columbus; and directing the distribution of certain copies of the Declara tion of Independence, now in the Department of State. Mr. Cutts also notified the House, that the Senate concur in the resolution for the appointment of a Joint Committee, to notify the President of the proposed recess of Congress, and that they have appointed a committee on their part. And then he withdrew. Mr. Taylor, from the said joint committee, reported, that the committee had discharged the duty assigned them, and that they received for answer from the President of the United States, that he had no further communications to make to Congress at the present session. Ordered, That a message be sent to the Senate to notify them that this House, having completed the business before them, are now ready to adjourn; and that the Clerk do go with the said message. The Clerk having delivered the said message, and being returned, A message was received from the Senate, by Mr. Cutts, their Secretary, notifying this House that the Senate, having completed the legislative business before them, are ready to adjourn; And, thereupon, The Speaker adjourned the House until the first Monday in December next, the day fixed by the Constitution of the United States for the annual meeting of Congress.
