Thefe occupations relate not only to agriculture, they comprife alfo a great number of other employments and means of induftry, which furnish many important objects for exportation. In the fecond fection, Mr. St. fpeaks of the trades, and of the measures adopted by Catharine to fupport and improve them, by fecuring a civil exiftence to thofe who are occupied in them. He reckons the number of individuals who depend on them, to be for the whole Empire 350,000. The third fection is confecrated to manufactures, which are here claffed under 45. heads.
