The Fickle fix'd.

I.

My love was fickle once and changing,

Nor e'er would settle in my heart;

From beauty ftill to beauty ranging,
In ev'ry place I found a dart.

II.

'Twas first a charming shape enflav'd me,
An eye that gave the fatal stroke,
Till by her wit Corinna fav'd me,
And all my former fetters broke.

III.

But now a long and lasting anguish,
For Belvidera I endure;

Hourly I figh, and hourly languish,
Nor hope to find the wonted cure.

IV.

For here the false unconstant lover,
After a thousand beauties shown,
Does new surprising charms difcover,
And finds variety in one.
