REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION.

Every candidate for admission must be fifteen years of and age, must present to the Faculty satisfactory evidence of a good moral character. In the arrangement of the five courses of study provided for, the aim has been to meet the requirements of all who have the legal right to attend the University, and in the assignment of work for particular students, the best interests of each will be consulted. To enter upon any of the courses of study the following requirements in different branches have been fixed:

Business Course: Arithmetic, to percentage, English grammar, to syntax, common school geography, descriptive essays.

Normal Course: The first eight years of common school work, including orthography, reading, writing, arithmetic, common school geography, English grammar, composition, United States history, elementary physiology, and two years of free-hand drawing.

Other Courses: The first ten years of common school work. including, in addition to the branches required for admission to the Normal School, elementary algebra, six books in geometry, physical geography, physics, rhetoric and general history, and one year Latin, Spanish, German or French.

COURSES OF INSTRUCTION.

The University provides five courses of instruction, from which the student may choose his studies, subject to the regulations of the Faculty.

BUSINESS DEPARTMENT.

First year: Syntax in English grammar, arithmetic, United States history, physical geography, letter writing and other rhetorical exercises.

Second year: English composition, bookkeeping, commercial law, business forms and rhetorical exercises.

THE NORMAL SCHOOL.

First year: Theory and practice of teaching and observation of work in the Training School; algebra, physical geography, physiology, English grammar and composition, review of United States history and civil government.

Second year: History of education and practice teaching in the Training School; geometry, geology, botany, grammatical analysis, English composition, literature.

Third year: Mental science and practice work in the Training School; arithmetic reviewed, physics, chemistry, general history, rhetoric, general reviews.

NOTE.-Drills will be given until the desired proficiency is obtained in vocal music, freehand and map drawing, calisthenics and elocution. Practice teaching will be directed by the Principal of the Training School. Supplementary reading in history, biography, travels, geography and pedagogy will be required of all Normal students.

The foregoing course of study must be satisfactorily completed by those desiring the "Elementary Diploma" named in the laws of Nevada, 1887, Chapter XXXVII, Section 7. "The Diploma of Graduation," named in said Statute, will be issued to those holding elementary diplomas, who shall have completed a fourth year's course of study prescribed by the Faculty, after three years' successful experience in teaching. This fourth year's course shall consist of selected work from the courses of study prescribed for the Schools of Agriculture, Mechanic Arts and Mining and of Liberal Arts, and will include language, mathematics and natural science.

In order that the Normal School may be of genuine service to all the teachers of Nevada, the Faculty will welcome, at any time of the year, those who have leisure for study, and will endeavor to make their stay in the University profitable to them, either for reviews or other work.
