IN this compilation, the object has been to make the headings proper clues to the quotations, and I believe, though it seems to be asserting a good deal to say so much, that nothing in the same form or on so extensive a scale has been before attempted.
The headings are : ist. Such as can be clearly gathered from the passages quoted,
as for instance : GREATNESS (fallen) .
