PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION. THE rapid sale of the first edition of this work, and the great demand for a second, has induced the Author and Compiler to issue a Revised and Enlarged SECOND EDITION, entitled RICHMOND'S BOOK OF LEGAL FORMS AND LAW MANUAL, on a very extensive scale, containing all the legal matter of the first edition revised, with four hundred and fifty pages of additional matter, devoted to Legal Forms and Parliamentary Acts, thus making a work of upwards of six hundred pages of valuable legal information: The author and compiler has spared no labor or expense in preparing and getting up the Legal Forms and other legal matter contained in this work, with the view of making it as complete as possible for the low price at which it is sold. This work is designed for the use of County and Town Officers, Merchants, Clerks, Mechanics, Farmers, Professional Men, Justices of the Peace, Coroners, Sheriffs, Bailiffs and other Peace Officers, and all persons in every station of life; a Book of Legal Forms and Law Manual adapted to their wants and conveniences, which will be found to be very comprehensive, and will ease the burden of those who are in want of such legal information as is comprised in this work; enabling all persons to draw up legal documents without the waste of time and money, and inform themselves on many points of law by referring to the Parliamentary Acts contained in this work. As in this work will be found upwards of two hundred and seventy very important Legal Forms: Also upwards of forty Parliamentary Acts, such as follows:-The Consolidated Municipal Loan Fund Act, with the Amendment, Insolvent Debtors Act, Heir and Devisee Act, Real Estate of Minors Act, Patent Wright Act, Joint Stock Companies Act for Manufacturing, etc., Mortgagees Relief Act, with a large number of other Acts, too numerous to be here named, (see Index.) Thus placing within the reach of all at a very low price, a large quantity of valuable legal information, which has cost the author and compiler an immense deal of labor and money, in bringing this work out in its present form; which he trusts will be found worthy of general support, and be of great benefit to the public generally.
