Called to the discharge of the delicate and responsible duties of this position without experience in legislative affairs, I could not have attained even the poor measure of success with which I have beed credited, without the most considerate forbearance on your part. If I have failed to redeem the pledges given upon assuming the duties of the Chair of a just and impartial administration, it has been from no lack of disposition, and no one can regret it more sincerely than myself. I congratulate you upon the high character which you have established for integrity and patient attention to duty. I believe that your record will compare most favorably with any Assembly which has sat in this Chamber in many years. I shall look back upon the labors of this session as the most interesting experience of my life, and I regard it as a matter of sincere gratification that while there has been frequent and earnest differences in regard to matters under consideration, we have reached the end of our association here with the utmost good feeling, and with a remarkable freedom from personal animosities. In taking leave of you, I desire to tender to one and all my most sincere wish for future success and prosperity in all the affairs of life, and a safe journey to your respective homes. In pursuance of the concurrent resolution of the Senate and Assembly, I now declare this House adjourned sine die. J. O'DONNELL, Clerk. INDEX TO ASSEMBLY JOURNAL. A. PAGE.
