Where had Christ been sent by the Father!
For what purpose was he sent?

How was that commission which he had, like this which he now gave his disciples?

Is it then the duty of Christians to send the gospel
to every creature?
Have they done this?
How may they do it?
How may we do it?

22. What did the Lord then do?

What is meant by their receiving the Holy
Ghost?

Do Christians now receive the Holy Ghost?
Can they do miracles now?

What does the Holy Ghost now do for Christians?

Where are we to look for aid to understand the Scriptures aright?

23. What power was given to the apostles?

Does this mean that they had power to forgive sins?

24. Which of the disciples was not present at this time?

25. What did the others say to him afterwards?

22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

24 T But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came

25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print

What answer did he make?

26. When were the disciples assembled together again?

What day of our week was it?

What do we learn from Christ's meeting his disciples on the "first" day of the week?

Was Thomas absent at this time?

Who came among them?

What did he say?

27. What did Christ say to Thomas?

Did he know what Thomas had said?

What is the meaning of "faithless”?

28. What was the answer that Thomas made?

What made him believe that Christ was God?

29. What did our Saviour say to him? Why should such as have never "seen" Christ, believe in him?

Whom must all acknowledge Christ to be?

of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, tho hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have be lieved.

30. What is said about the signs that Jesus did in the presence of his disciples?

What is meant by "signs"?.

Does this imply that they are written elsewhere?

31. For what purpose have those been written that are found on record?

Is there enough written to convince every person that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of God? Can we have any excuse if we do not believe in Christ?

Is it enough merely to believe that such a person as Christ ever lived and died?

What does true faith in Christ imply?

How is true faith in Christ exhibited ?

30 ¶ And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is tha Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

LESSON XLVII.

Jesus appears at the Sea of Tiberias.

John xxi. 1-25.

1. To whom did Jesus again show him

self?

How many of them were together?

Where were they?

By what other name is the sea of Tiberias called?

Had he often been with them there?

What is meant by the expression "on this wise showed he himself"?

2. Who were together?

What business did most of these men follow?

3. What did Simon Peter say to them? How did they answer him?

What did they do then?

What success had they that night?

CHAP. XXI.-1 After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise showed he himself.

2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

4. What took place in the morning?
Did the disciples know him?

5. What did Jesus say to them?
How did the disciples answer him?
6. What did he tell them to do?
Did they take any thing now?
7. What did John say to Peter?
Why did he think it was the Lord?
What did Peter do?

8. How did the other disciples comer How far were they from land?

What distance is two hundred cubits?

9. What did they find on the shore? 10. What did Jesus say to them? 11. What did Peter do then?

4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shores but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many yet was not the net broken.
