JNO. W. DAVIS,
THE dialogues which form the characteristic feature of the volume now offered to the public, have been selected to supply a marked deficiency in the school books for declamation. They are believed to be adapted to the various tastes and capacities of boys in our high schools, and have been chiefly extracted from authors of acknowledged merit, but not usually found upon the shelves of a private library. The editor has endeavoured to give as much freshness as possible to the collection by admitting those pieces only which have never appeared in similar publications. He now submits it to the public under the hope that its merits may entitle it to a favourable reception.
