And we worship thy name, ever, world without end.

Vouchsafe, O LORD, to keep us this day without sin.

O LORD, have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us.

O LORD, let thy mercy lighten upon us, as our trust is in thee.

O LORD, in thee have we trusted, let us never be confounded.

Or,

Psalm CXLV.

I WILL extol thee, O God, my king; and I will praise thy name for ever and

ever.

Every day will I give thanks unto thee, and praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised his greatness is unsearchable.

Generation to generation shall celebrate thy works, and declare thy power. They shall speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

Men shall tell of the might of thy terrible acts, and discourse of thy greatness. They shall largely commemorate thy

great goodness; and shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

The LORD is gracious and merciful; slow to anger, and abundant in kindness. The LORD is good unto every man, and his mercy is over all his works.

All thy works shall celebrate thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall give thanks unto thee.

They shall tell of the glory of thy kingdom, and speak of thy power;

That thy power, thy glory, and the mightiness of thy kingdom may be made known unto the sons of men.

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

The LORD upholdeth all such as are falling; and lifteth up all those who are bowed down.

The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their food in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living creature.

The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and bountiful in all his works.

The LORD is near unto all those who call upon him; to all those who call upon him in sincerity.

He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him; he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

The LORD preserveth all those who love him; but scattereth abroad all those who are wicked.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD; and all flesh shall give thanks unto his holy name for ever and ever. Amen.

Then shall be read the SECOND LESSON, taken out of the New Testament; the Minister standing, and the Congregation sitting, during the reading of the Lesson.

After that, the Hymn following shall be read by the Minister and Congregation in alternate verses, or otherwise chanted by the choir, all standing.

Luke i. 68.

BLESSED be the LORD God of Israel;

for he hath visited and redeemed his

people;

And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us in the house of his servant David; As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began;

To give knowledge of salvation to his people, for the remission of their sins,

Through the tender mercy of our God:

whereby the day-spring from on high hath visited us;

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Amen.

Or this Psalm.

Psalm c.

O BE joyful in the LORD, all ye lands: serve the LORD with gladness, and come before his presence with a song. Be ye sure that the LORD he is God; it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves: we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and speak good of his name.

For the LORD is gracious, his mercy is everlasting: and his truth endureth from generation to generation. Amen.

Then shall be read the three following Collects; The Minister alone reading; the Choir and Congregation saying Amen; all kneeling or standing.

AS

Let us pray.

SSIST us mercifully, O LORD, in these our supplications and prayers, and dispose the way of thy servants towards the attainment of everlasting salvation; that among all the changes and chances of this mortal life, they may ever be defended by thy most gracious and ready help, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O ALMIGHTY LORD and everlasting God, vouchsafe, we beseech thee, to direct, sanctify, and govern both our hearts and bodies in the ways of thy laws, and in the works of thy commandments; that through thy most mighty protection, both here and ever, we may be preserved in body and soul, through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

O LORD, we beseech thee mercifully to receive the prayers of thy people who call upon thee; and grant that they may both perceive and know what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfill the same, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
