THE Provincial Wesleyan thinks that Methodigm needs just now a powerful theologian, another Watson. It says:
“Metbodism needs another great theologial sy tematist to repeat he splendid ser ice performed by Richard Wat-on in bis institutes. Watson was a kingly man, and Me: h. ogism owes him a vast debt of gratitude. His equal in his high in elsac uai epdowme s bas n it yet appeared in the Methi dist bousebold. . . . Sioce Watsoa, biblical criticism and natural science have made'immense prog. rees, and the spiri, of free inquiry, daring and unscrupulous, has taken up new positions aud operated fro a new bases. In non-Met:o list churches many emiont defenders of the faith are basteblog to the new field of con. flict. And in Methodist communions able champions are conteudieg for the rru h as it is in Jesus. But yet clear-sighted Methodist eyes would grow bright wild joy could they but see another Ricard Watson, fitcingly ained from head to foot, pressiug ouward to the ba tle sront.”
