Pardon dear God, all my former ingratitude; and that I have passed so many days without observing, without admiring, without acknowledging and confessing thy wonderful goodness, to the most unworthy of all thy

servants.

When I seriously consider great God, my dependance upon thy providence, and that the favours and mercies I have received, are infinitely more in number, than the acknowledgments I have made, I am justly ashamed of my ingratitude, and afraid lest my unthankfulness, should provoke thee to hinder the current of thy mercies from descending upon me.

Prayer for Sunday Morning.

O Lord, who hast consecrated this day to thy service, give us grace so to observe it, that it may be the beginning of an happy week to us; and that none of thy judgments may befall us for profaning it.

Fix in our hearts this great truth, that here we have no abiding place, that we may

seriously and timely provide for another life, and grant that this great concern may make us. very desirous to learn our duty, and to do what thou requirest of us.

We bless thee O God, that we have churches to go to, that we have such times set apart for the more public worship of our creator, and that we have pastors to teach us.

O that we may desire and rejoice at the return of this day, and serve thee faithfully on it, and that we may enjoy an everlasting sabbath with thy saints, for Jesus Christ's sake.

O that we may ever be glad when they say unto us "Come let us go up into the house of God."

may we never spend thy holy day in vanity and idleness, nor in a customary attendance in thy house only; but that we may serve thee with our souls, as well as our bodies.

O merciful God, increase the number and the graces of such as are zealous for thy glory and the conversion of sinners.

Impart to them the true way of instruction, and may thy blessing go along with their pious endeavors.

Especially do we pray thee to bless him whom thou hast chosen to labour for our souls, pour out thy spirit upon him, give him a true Jove for the souls of poor sinners, may he speak and labour effectually among us, dispose our hearts to receive the words of truth and righte ousness which he shall deliver; may nothing be wanting on our part, to crown his labours with success and may we all have a happy meeting before the throne of grace and great Bishop of souls.

Grant O Lord, that christians may not content themselves, with the bare shadows of pie. ty; but endeavour after that holiness without which no man can see the Lord.

Preserve thy church in the midst of the dangers that surround it; purge it from all cor ruptions, and heal its divisions, that all christian people may unite and love, as becomes the disciples of Christ.

May the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of the Lord and his Christ.

O thou who art the Maker and Redeemer of all, have mercy upon all whom thou hast made and redeemed, and grant that none may make themselves incapable of the happiness which Jesus Christ hath purchased with his most precious blood. To this end we beseech thee to bless the pious endeavors of all persons and socities which strive to propagate the gospel of Christ.

That its divine truths may be received in all the world.

Have pity upon all those unhappy people who still sit in darkness, and want the necessary means of instruction. Send them pastors after thine own heart; full of knowledge, compassion and zeal, that pitying their sad condition, they may instruct them in the ways of truth, and of eternal life.

O Lord, we implore thee to enable us to improve this day to the sanctification of our hearts

May it be registered in heaven as a day of grace to our souls; refresh us with the influences and consolations of thy spirit.

t

Bless the prayers and instructions which we shall read or hear, to the benefit of our souls.

Thus may we spend all the sabbaths which thou shall allow us on earth, till we are well pre. pared for enjoying one eternal subbath above. Grant this for Christ's sake....Amen.

Evening Prayer for Sunday.

Almighty and most merciful God, on the evening of thy blessed sabbath we kneel before thee in humble supplication, to confess our unworthiness, to implore thy forgiveness, and ask a gracious continuance of thy undeserved favours.

O God, we confess that our thoughts, and prayers and conversation, have not been as pure and heavenly as thou requirest, and as is our bounden duty on so holy a day.
