No. 104, beg leave to report as follows: We recommend the following amendments: Strike out all of Section 3 in the printed bill and substitute the following Section: Section 3. "Such police justices shall be appointed by the mayor with the consent of the council, and no person other than a duly elected justice of the peace for the justice precinct embraced in said city or town shall be elibible or shall be appointed as such police justice." In lines 1 and 2, Section 6, of the printed bill, strike out the words "or elected;" in line 3, Section 9, strike out the words "or elected." Strike out all of Section 5 printed bill and insert in lieu thereof the following: Section 5. "The term of office of such police justices shall be the same as that of justices of the peace and their salary shall be as prescribed by the ordinances of their respective cities or towns, provided that such salary shall not be other or greater than the amount paid to justices of the peace in precincts having a population similar to each of said cities. or towns."
