A bill to amend section 14, being compiler's section 2788 of the compiled laws of 1871, as amended by act No. 22 of the session laws of 1873, and by act No. 35 of the session laws of 1875, being an act entitled "An act to amend section 14 of an act entitled 'An act to amend sections 2 and 14 of chapter 88 of the compiled laws of 1871, entitled "An act to authorize the formation of corporations for the running, booming, and rafting of logs,""" approved March 17, 1875;

Which has passed the House by a majority vote of all the members elect, and by a vote of two-thirds of all the members elect been ordered to take immediate effect, and in which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully asked.

A bill to authorize the board of control of State swamp lands to make an appropriation of State swamp lands to drain and reclaim certain swamp and overflowed lands in the township of Pavilion, in Kalamazoo county;

In the passage of which the House has concurred by a majority vote of all the members elect.

A bill to authorize the board of supervisors of Ontonagon county to issue bonds for the purpose of raising moneys to construct two bridges across the Ontonagon river, in said county-one of said bridges to be built on the line of the section line between sections 25 and 36, in township 52 north, of range 40 west, the other of said bridges is provided to be constructed on the line of what is called the military wagon road, where said road crosses the Ontonagon river, near the village of Rockland;

2. House bill No. 623 (file No. 362), entitled

A bill to amend section 2 of "An act to regulate and define the duties of judges of probate in certain cases," being act No. 95 of the session laws of 1873;

3. House bill No. 568 (file No. 358), entitled

A bill to prevent the spread of the yellows, a contagious disease among peach, almond, apricot, and nectarine trees, and to provide measures for the eradication of the same, and to repeal act 32 of the session laws of 1879; Which have passed the House by a majority vote of all the members elect, and in which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully asked.

A bill to amend sections 2, 8, 10, 12, and 33 of an act entitled "An act to incorporate the village of Leslie," approved March 30, 1869, as amended by act No. 258 of the session laws of 1873, approved April 18 1873, and by act No. 251 of the session laws of 1877, approved March 14, 1877, and to add one new section thereto;

2. House bill No. 313 (file No. 375), entitled

A bill to authorize the township board of Lincoln, Osceola county, to borrow money to pay the highway indebtedness and to issue bonds for the payment of the same;

Which have passed the House by a majority vote of all the members elect, and by a vote of two-thirds of all the members elect, been ordered to take immediate effect, and in which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully asked.

MOTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS.

Mr. Dow moved that the committee on roads and bridges be discharged from the further consideration of

House bill No. 279 (file No. 393), entitled

A bill to revise and consolidate the laws relating to the establishment, opening, improvement, and maintenance of highways, and the building, repairing, and preservation of bridges under township authority within this State, And that the same be referred to the committee on agricultural interests; Which motion prevailed, and the bill was so referred.

Mr. Winsor moved to take from the table

House bill No. 30 (file No. 71), entitled

A bill to amend section 15 of chapter 85, being section 2730 of the compiled laws of 1871, relative to the improvement of rivers for the purposes of navigation;

Which motion prevailed.

Mr. Winsor moved that the rules be suspended, and to reconsider the vote by which the Senate passed the bill;

Which motion prevailed.

On motion of Mr. Winsor,

The bill was then re-referred to the committee on canals and river and harbor improvements.

On motion of Mr. Dow,

EXECUTIVE SESSION.

The Senate went into executive session, the time being 9:05.

The executive session closed, the time being 9:14.

Mr. Caplis asked and obtained leave of absence for Mr. Welch for the day.

RESIGNATION.

Mr. Dickerman moved that the resignation of Mr. Fowler be accepted, and
