The President announced that Mr. Andrus would be added to each of the following committees, viz.: Appropriations and finance, printing, rules and joint rules, and State House of correction.

The committee of the whole have had under consideration the following: 1. Senate bill No. 144 (file No. 167), entitled

A bill to amend section 20 of an act entitled "An act to provide a uniform assessment of property and for the collection and return of taxes thereon," approved April 6, 1869, as amended by act No. 85 of the session laws of 1875, and being compiler's section 986 of the compiled laws of 1871 as amended, pertaining to a review of assessment rolls;

Have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, with the recommendation that it be re-referred to the special committee on taxation. The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following:

2. Senate bill No. 157 (file No. 136), entitled

A bill to amend sections 68 and 93 of an act entitled "An act to provide a uniform assessment of property and for the collection and return of taxes thereon," approved April 6, 1869, being compiler's sections 1034 and 1059 of the compiled laws of 1871;

Have made some progress therein, but not having gone through therewith, have directed their chairman to report that fact to the Senate, and ask leave to sit again at half past 10 o'clock to-morrow morning.

A bill to authorize and empower the board of control of State swamp lands to appropriate not to exceed two sections of State swamp lands in the lower peninsula to complete and improve that portion of the "Newaygo and Dayton State road," lying between the southwest corner of section number twenty, in township number fourteen north, of range number fourteen west, in Newaygo county, and the north line of said township;

Which motion prevailed.
