A bill to amend section 20 of an act entitled "An act to provide a uniform assessment of property and for the collection and return of taxes thereon,' approved April 6, 1869, as amended by act No. 85 of the session laws of 1875, and being compiler's section 986 of the compiled laws of 1871 as amended, pertaining to a review of assessment rolls;

Mr. Dow offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That on and after to-morrow, Wednesday, April 20th, the daily sessions of this Senate shall convene at half-past nine o'clock, A. M.; Which was not adopted.

Mr. Caplis presented the credentials of William W. Andrus, Senator elect from the 20th senatorial district, and asked that they be referred to the committee on the judiciary.

The credentials were so referred.

Mr. Chandler offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the thanks of the Senate are hereby tendered to H. B. Ledyard, General Manager of the Michigan Central Railroad Company, and to said Company for their courtesy in furnishing a special train to attend the funeral of the late Hon. Lewis Durkee, State Senator, on the 13th inst., and also to the conductor, Mr. M. F. Cottrell, for his able management of the train and uniform courtesy toward all the passengers;

Which was adopted unanimously.

Mr. Patterson moved that the Secretary be instructed to forward copies of the resolution just passed to general manager Ledyard and conductor Cottrell; Which motion prevailed.

On motion of Mr. Chandler,

Senate bill No. 184 (file No. 168), entitled

A bill to amend section 12 of chapter 123 of the revised statutes of 1846, as amended by act No. 114 of the laws of 1869, being compiler's section 6706 of the compiled laws of 1871, relative to "summary proceedings to recover possession of land in other cases;"

Have made no amendments thereto, and have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, and recommend its passage.

The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following:

2. Senate bill No. 233 (file No. 171), entitled

A bill to amend section 13 of chapter 47 of the compiled laws of 1871, being compiler's section 1757, as amended by act number 159 of the session laws of 1875, and act number 109 of the session laws of 1877, and relating to draining swamps, marshes and other low lands;

Have made sundry amendments thereto, and have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, asking concurrence therein, and recommend its passage.

The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following:

3. Senate bill No. 172 (file No. 164), entitled

A bill to provide for the re-assessment of taxes assessed on part-paid lands in certain cases;

Have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, with the recommendation that its consideration be made a special order for Thursday, April 21, at 10:30 o'clock A. M.

The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following:

4. Senate bill No. 282 (file No. 170), entitled

A bill to regulate the business of co-operative and mutual benefit associations within this State;

Have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, with the recommendation that the further consideration of the bill with the pending amendment be made a special order for the 20th instant, at 2 o'clock P. M.
