SEC. 3. There is hereby appropriated out of the Appropriation. general fund of the state the sum of four hundred and twenty dollars and seven cents ($420.07) or so much thereof as will be necessary to pay said

warrant.

CHAPTER 145.

AN ACT for the relief of the city of Grand Island, Hall county, Nebraska.

WHEREAS, The city of Grand Island, did dur- Preamble, ing the year 1885 and 1886, issue bonds, known as the "Grand Island Water Works Bonds," as registered in the office of the auditor of public accounts of the state of Nebraska, on the 12th day of December, 1885, in the amount of $35,000.00, and again on the 28th day of July, 1886, in the amount of $5,000, for the erection and completion of waterworks for said city; and

WHEREAS, Said city did likewise, during the year 1886, issue bonds known as the "City of Grand Island Funding Bonds," which said bonds were also registered in the office of said auditor, as required by law, on the 28th day of July, 1886, in the amount of $8,000.00; and

did exact from said city of Grand Island the payment of $120.00 (one hundred and twenty dollars), as registration fee for registering said several bonds in the amount of $48,000.00; and

WHEREAS, The attorney general of the state of Nebraska, and the supreme court of said state, have since decided that no registration fee can be legally exacted from cities for the registration of said bonds, and that such bonds must be registered by the said auditor without any registration fee; therefore Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of the general fund of the state the sum of $120.00 (one hundred and twenty dollars), for the said city of Grand Island.

SEC. 2. The auditor of public accounts of the state of Nebraska is hereby authorized to draw his warrant on the state treasurer for said amount in favor of the said city of Grand Island.

CHAPTER 146.

AN ACT for the relief of George M. Price.

WHEREAS, George M. Price has purchased at Preamble. tax sale for the delinquent taxes of 1874, the following premises, to-wit: The west half of the southeast quarter of section number thirteen (13) in town number one (1) north of range three (3) east of the sixth P.M. and has paid out for subsequent taxes thereon, certain sums of money; and

WHEREAS, Said described premises have been subsequently purchased by the state of Nebraska, and it now owns the same; therefore,

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Ne

braska:

for relief of

SECTION 1. That seventy-five (75) dollars or Appropriation so much thereof as may be necessary to redeem Geo. M. Price. said land for taxes, be and the same hereby is appropriated out of the general fund in the treasury to pay said George M. Price for the taxes, costs and charges paid out by him, and ten (10) per cent interest thereon, which shall be paid by warrant of the auditor of public accounts, upon the state treasurer, upon said George M. Price assigning over to the state of Nebraska, all his interest in said premises and tax certificates and receipts, and delivering the same to the auditor of public accounts.

CHAPTER 147.

Payment of elaim.

AN ACT for the relief of Maggie Pribble.

WHEREAS, On the thirty-first day of January, 1885, Maggie Pribble while in the employ of the state of Nebraska met with an accident, by means of which the said Maggie Pribble was maimed for life and her health permanently broken, and the said Maggie Pribble was damaged in the sum of two thousand dollars; and

WHEREAS, Said accident was caused by the negligent use of machinery by the superiors of said Maggie Pribble in the employ of the state; therefore,

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury of the State of Nebraska, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two thousand dollars for the payment of said claim for damages.

SEC. 2. The auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the state treasury for the sum of two thousand dollars in favor of the said Maggie Pribble, for the payment of said claim.

CHAPTER 148.

AN ACT for the relief of the city of Beatrice.

WHEREAS, The city of Beatrice did, on the Preamble. 14th day of March 1886, issue city bonds for the erection of waterworks for said city, in the sum of eighty thousand (80,000) dollars, and

WHEREAS, The auditor of the state of Nebraska, did exact from said city the payment of two hundred ($200) dollars as registration fee for registering said bonds, and

WHEREAS, The attorney general of Nebraska, and the supreme court of said state has since decided that no registration fee can be legally exacted from cities for the registration of their bonds, and said bonds must be registered by the auditor without any registration fee; therefore

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated Appropriation out of the general fund of the state the sum of two hundred ($200) dollars for the said city of Beatrice. SEC. 2. The auditor of the state is hereby warrant authorized to draw his warrant on the state treasurer for said amount in favor of said city of Beatrice. Approved March 31, 1887.
