NAVY.

ADMIRALTY, Nov. 23. The following flag promotions, dated the 17th instant, consequent on the death, on the 16th instant, of Vice-Admiral Sir Horatio Thomas Austin, K.C.B., have this day taken place:

Rear-Admiral Sir Sydney Colpoys Dacres, K.C.B., to be ViceAdmiral.

Captain Cospatrick Baillie Hamiltan to be rear-admiral on the reserved list.

Capt. Thomas Fisher to be rearadmiral.

Retired Capt. William Louis Sheringham to be retired rearadmiral, under the provisions of the Orders in Council of Aug 1, 1860, and July 9, 1864.

ADMIRALTY, Dec. 11. The following flag promotions, dated the 2nd instant, have been made in consequence of the removal of the name of Admiral Henry Smith, C.B., from the active to the reserved flag list, on his being granted a service pension:

Commander Charles James Balfour promoted to the rank of retired captain, under the provisions of the Orders in Council of August 1, 1860, and July 9, 1864.

Mr. Henry William Masterman, promoted to the rank of firstclass assistant engineer in her Majesty's fleet, with seniority of November 23.
