THE Editor of the Sermons contained in the two following volumes, thinks it right to state that some of them had been selected by Dr. Parr himself for publication many years before his death; and fragments of an intended preface have been found, of which the largest, and most corrected portion, will be seen at the end of this address. Dr. Parr's motives for not carrying into effect the intention stated in the not distinctly known. arisen partly from the and the difficulties of transcription, at a time when the Doctor could ill afford to pay an amanuensis, and partly from his improved circumstances, which may have made this mode of increasing his income unnecessary.
