Sci Michis Anno Quarto Regni Regis et Regine Gulielmi et Marie Fol in Sccio remanen & ibm in Cuftod Rememator dcor Dnor Regis et Regine exiften ut fequitr. ff Martis viceffimo quinto Die Octobris fs. Whereas in and by an act of this prefent Parliament made in the Third Year of the Reign of their prefent Majefties King William and Queen Mary, intituled, “An A&t for granting an Aid to their Majesties, of the Sum of Sixteen hundred Fifty-one thousand Seven hundred and two Pounds Eighteen Shillings, towards the carry ing on a vigorous war against France," it is provided and enacted, That no fees fhould be demanded or taken by any Officer of the Exchequer, or of any the Officers thereof, for the receiving or iffuing any of the Money granted by the faid Act, or any other A&t of this prefent Parliament, for Aids and Supplies to their Majefties, but such ancient and legal Fees as fhall be allowed by the Lord Chief Baron and Barons of the Coife at the Court of Exchequer, to be fuch and not otherwife; and that the faid Chief Baron and Barons shall, and are thereby required to prefent a table or schedule of the faid fees fo by them allowed, to the Lords and Commons affembled in Parliament, at the next Seffion to be holden for this or any next fucceeding Parliament. In purfuance therefore of the faid Act of Parliament, we have called before us the Of ficers of the Receipt of the Exchequer, and received information of the Fees demanded or taken by the faid Officers for the receiving and iffuing of the afore faid monies; and upon hearing of them, and Confideration of the whole Mate ter, we do allow the Fees mentioned in the Tables or Schedules hereunto annexed, and no other, to be ancient legal fees, and from henceforth to be ancient legal fees, and from henceforth to be demanded and taken by the faid off cers, for the receiving or iffuing any of the money aforefaid. And we do pre

fent a Table or Schedule of the faid Fees fo allowed as aforefaid to the Lords and Commons affembled in Parliament, and according to the faid act of Par liament.

The Auditor.

A Table or Schedule of the ancient and legal Fees allowed by the Lord Chief Baron and Barons of the Coife of the Court of Exchequer, to be demanded and taken by the Auditor of the Receipt of the Exchequer, for the receiving or iffuing any of the monies granted by an Act of Parliament, intitled, “ An act for granting an aid to their Majefties, of the fum of fixteen hundred aftyone thoufand feven hundred and two pounds eighteen fhillings, towards the carrying on a vigorous war against France," or any other act of this prefent Parliament for aids and fupplies to their Majefties.

For the receiving of Money.

For every tally upon land taxes or polls, be the fums more or lefs iiij
For every thousand pounds paid in for excife by tally, being the
like fee which hath been paid for monies paid in for customs

Memorandum.-That all aids and fupplies are comprehended
under these two heads.

For iffuing of money.

For three millions and one hundred thousand pounds, exprefsly' by the faid acts appropriated to the navy, and for all other fums that have been issued, or what fhall hereafter be iffued to the navy For all monies arifing by thefe aids and fupplies which have] been appropriated or iffued to the land forces, according to an agreement made in the year 1667, by the then Lord Treafurer, Lord General and Chancellor of the Exchequer, by and with the confent of the officers of the Exchequer, attefted by the right honourable Sir Stephen Fox, Kt. one of the Lords [ Commiffioners of their Majefties Treafury; by which agree-> iij3 vjd ment, the Auditor's fees are leffened from 2d. in the pound, per cent. which amounts to 16s. 8d. per cent. and were the ancient legal fees for fervices of this nature, to 8% per pound, which is his fhare of 11⁄2 pound, settled by the aforefaid agreement for all the officers of the Exchequer, fo that his and his clerk's fhare amount to

out of their pay, and are not placed upon the King's ac-

count.

For all penfions, annuities, rewards, free gifts, fa-
laries, fees, &c. without account, if the fame be
paid by order or debenture

For the fame, if the fame were paid by tally of af-
fignment de regardo
For money iffued under the title of fecret fervice;
by which many penfions, free gifts, &c. have
been paid; but under this head, the fervices be-
ing not known, the fee could not be reduced to
a proper head, and therefore by agreement were
abated to half fees

The fees hereafter mentioned, are attefted by a
table of fees received from Mr. William
Burges, in the year 1676, who had been a
long time a clerk in the faid office, as afferted
upon the oath of Mr. George Raynton, now
a clerk in the faid office; which fees were an-
ciently brought under the head of pensions;
falaries, wages, &c. the officers hereafter
mentioned making divers payments to those
ufes, and then paid the fee of 25s. per cent.
as before, but for many years last past were
brought under particular heads, and the fees
were, by agreement or ufage in the Exche-
quer, leffened according to feveral propor-
tions, viz.
