We have not been able to learn what fees, rewards, and gratuities were allowed to the officers and clerks of the Pay Office, for making up the ac counts of Robert Walpole, Efq. on his first appointment of Paymafter General of the forces, or for making up the accounts of the Earl of Lincoln. Gentlemen, IN pursuance of your requifition, that the proper officer do tranfmit to you an exact account of the falaries, fees, and gratuities received by the Auditor and his clerks, in the receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, from the 31ft of December, 1779, to the 31ft of December, 1780, I gave my orders to expedite the fame as foon as the circumstances of the account would permit. N. B. The accounts of the Exchequer, by long cuftom, are made up at Eafter eve and Michaelmas eve; therefore ordered the following account for a. complete year from Michaelmas 1779, to Michaelmas 1780. An An ACCOUNT of Salaries, Fees, and Gratuities, received by the Auditor of the Receipt of his Majesty's Exchequer and his Clerks, from Michaelmas 1779, to Michaelmas 1780. The following fees and allowances are likewife received by the Auditor, viz. It appears by the books in my office, that the fum of 22,275,9791. 175. 9 d. has been iffued; for which neither the faid Auditor or clerks have taken any fees. Nor for any accounts made out and prefented to Parliament, which for fome years paft have been voluminous and expensive.
