Of the golden number.

He golden pelat is fo called, because it was written in the kalendar with letters of gold right at that day whereon the moon changed; and it is the space of nineteen yeares, in the which the moon returneth to the self fame day of the yeare of the funne: and therefore it is alfe called the cycle of the meon:for every nineteenth yeare the moon hatbber change,full,quarters. and lignes upon the faras day. So that upon what day of any moneth the moon was in her change for quarter, nineteen yeares paft, the fame is this yeare, and will be nineteen yeares bene ferard: and likewife the fame for the fignes.

To finde the gelden number every yeare, you must adde one yeare to the yeare of Christ (for Chrif was born one yeare of the nineteen already paft) then divide the whole by nineteen, and that which refterb is the golden number for that yeare: if there be no furplufage, it is then nine. teen. Or divide the yeares fince 1614 by nineteen, the remain is the golden number.

Note that the golden number and dominicall letter do change every yeare the firft day of Januar And the epast the fift of March for ever. Note alfo that the yeare of our Lord beginneth the xxv da of March, the fame day fuppofed to be the fit day upon which the world was created, and the day whe
