Rise, my soul, and stretch thy wings,
Return, O wanderer-now return,
Return, my soul, unto thy rest,
Return, my roving heart, return,
Renew me, O my God, within,
Roll on, O Lord, the latter day,
Rise, crowned with light, imperial Salem, rise,

Searcher of hearts, to Thee are known,
Songs of immortal praise,
Shall he our teacher be,
Show pity, Lord; O Lord, forgive,
So let our lips and lives express,
Sovereign Ruler of the skies,
Sovereign of worlds above,
Soon may the last glad song arise,
Stay, mortal, stay! nor heedless thus,
Shall kidnapped Afric's race,
Shall suffering bondmen be forgot,
Shall tyranny and wealth,

The heaven of heavens cannot contain,
Through all the various shifting scene,
The Lord is my Shepherd, no want,
The God who reigns alone,
Thou art the Way, to Thee alone,
Think not the Prince of Peace,
The law by Moses came,
The Spirit in our hearts,
The Prodigal, with streaming eyes,
Thou Lord of all above,
Times without number have I prayed,
This world is not a fleeting show,
This is the first and great command,
Th’ uplifted eye, and bended ee,

Thus saith the first, the great command,
Thus saith the high and lofty one,
The man of charity extends,
Thou art my portion, O my God,
To God, the only wise,
To our Almighty Maker, God,
To God, the mighty Lord,
Thy name, Almighty Lord,
Though now the nations sit beneath,
The morn of peace is beaming,
The reign of love is hastening,
There's a good time coming,
There came for the Pledge,
Take.back the bowl,
Touch not the cup, it is death to thy soul,
"'Tis but a drop,' the father said,
The happy day is dawning,
The fetters galled my weary soul,
The hour of freedom! come it must,
The bondmen are free in the Isles of the main,
To Freedom's cause, the cause of truth,
There is an armor from above,
The angels sung o'er Judah’s plain,
Toiling in the earthly vineyard,
There is a place of waveless rest,
There is an hour of peaceful rest,
The Lord into his garden comes,

Wherewith shall I approach the Lord,
Welcome, sweet day of rest,
While thee I seek protecting Power,
When shall thy love constrain,
Who is thy neighbor ? he whom thou,
Wherefore should man, frail child of clay,
Why should I pause, when at my door,

Whene'er to call the Savior inine,
When all thy mercies, O my God,
With all my powers of heart and tongue,
When shall the voice of singing,
Wake the song of Jubilee,
When Israel's God in his anger had spoken,
What mean ye

that
ye

bruise and bind,
When first the Non-Resistant name,
When brutish men against you rise,
Whence come your wars, frail worms of dust,
While thousands move with aching head,
What might be done, if men were wise,
What though the crowds who shout the word,
What though the martyr die in flame,
Waking every morn to duty,
Why do we mourn departing friends,
Why weep for those, frail child of woe,
We know thou hast gone to the home of thy rest,
Where two or three together meet,

1 BEFORE Jehovah's awful throne,

Ye nations bow with sacred joy;
Know that the Lord is God alone;

He can create and he destroy.
2 We are his people, we his care,

Our souls and all our mortal frame :
What lasting honors shall we rear,

Almighty Maker, to thy name? 3 We'll crowd thy gates with thankful songs;

High as the heavens our voices raise ;
And earth, with her ten thousand tongues,

Shall fill thy courts with sounding praise. 4 Wide as the world is thy command,

Vast as eternity thy love ;
Firm as a rock thy truth shall stand,
When rolling years shall cease to move.

L. M. SALISBURY Col. 1 Lo, God is here! let us adore,

And humbly bow before his face :
Let all within us feel his power,

Let all within us seek his grace.
2 Lo, God is here ! Him day and night

United choirs of angels sing :
To him, enthroned above all height,

Heaven's host their noblest homage bring. 3 Being of beings! may our praise

Thy courts with grateful fragrance fill ;
Still may we stand before thy face,
Still hear and do thy sovereign will.

NNAN.

1 Tue heaven of heavens cannot contain

The universal Lord;
Yet he in humble hearts will deign

To dwell and be adored..
2 Where'er ascends the sacrifice

Of fervent praise and prayer,
Or on the earth, or in the skies,

The God of heaven is there.

3 His presence is diffused abroad,

Through realms, through worlds unknown; Who seek the mercies of our God

Are ever near his throne.
