MR. GEORGE H. BARRETT was born at Exeter, in England,
w the 9th of June, 1794, and arrived at Boston, Mass., in Octo-
1796, accompanied by his mother, an actress of great
ty: one of those shining lights who passed through the
dramatic ordeal with the highest feelings of private respect.
MA BARRETT has been several years stage manager of some
f our first class theatres. At the Bowery, under Gilfert in
1905, where he delivered the opening address; at the Tremont,
Bistro, under Dana and Barry; and lately at the new theatre
cted by Col. Mann in Broadway.

MR. BARRETT has always held the first rank among
best comedians of the day. Endowed by nature with
high flow of spirits, and polished by education, his dramatic

s have always been highly relished by the multitude,
de scholar, and the gentleman. He possesses a fine figure, a
pod voice, and a handsome countenance; is graceful in his ac-
fe, thoroughly acquainted with the business of the stage, and
Lows how to make characters tell and render them successful
and effective. As a farce actor, he is unrivalled, and in the
