1647.

HE Commons had been long employed in framing a Declaration to go along with the Votes of both Houses, paffed on the 15th of Ja- February. nuary laft, against any further Application to the King, or receiving any Meffages from him; the Aim of which was to fatisfy the whole Kingdom of the Necef fity and Juftice of their Proceedings against his Majefty. There had been many Divifions of the House on the feveral Additions and Alterations in this Declaration; which being, at length, fully fettled, on the 11th of February a Motion was made, That the fame do pass, which was carried in the Affirmative, by 80 Voices against 50: The Tellers on this remarkable Occafion were, for the Question, Sir Arthur Hefelrigge and Sir Peter Wentworth; against it, Sir John Evelyn of Surrey and Mr. Bulkeley. Next it was refolved that this Declaration be forthwith printed and publifhed and it was particularly referred to the Care VOL. XVII.
