THE MAINTENANCE OF THE GOVERNMENT DURING THE PRESENT
YEAR.

Be it enacted, &c., as follows:

SECTION 1. The sums hereinafter mentioned are appropriated, to be paid out of the treasury of the Commonwealth, from the ordinary revenue, unless otherwise ordered, for the purposes specified, to meet the current expenses of the year ending on the thirty-first day of December, in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-nine, to wit:

LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT.

For the mileage of senators, a sum not exceeding four hundred dollars, which shall be allowed and paid.

For the compensation of senators, a sum not exceeding twelve thousand three hundred dollars, which shall be allowed and paid.

For the mileage of representatives, a sum not exceeding two thousand three hundred dollars, which shall be allowed and paid.

For the compensation of representatives, a sum not exceeding seventy-two thousand three hundred dollars, which shall be allowed and paid.

For the salaries of the clerks of the senate and house of representatives, five thousand dollars.

For the salaries of the chaplains of the senate and house of representatives, a sum not exceeding four hundred dollars, which shall be allowed and paid.

For the compensation of the preacher of the election sermon, one hundred dollars, which shall be allowed and paid. For the salary of the sergeant-at-arms, two thousand five hundred dollars.

For the compensation of the door-keepers, messengers and pages of the senate and house of representatives, a sum not exceeding ten thousand dollars, which shall be allowed and paid.

For the compensation of such watchmen and firemen as 1867, 167; 1868, may be employed in the state house, a sum not exceeding nine thousand two hundred dollars.
