virtuous demeanor, and induftrious conduct, upon the application of her parents or friends, or any house-keeper of fufficient credit, if fuch friends declare they forgive past offences, and will provide for her; or, if fuch house-keeper will receive fuch women. as a fervant; in either of these cases the committee will discharge fuch woman, with her confent.

3. Upon the difcharge of fuch woman, her, cloaths, or, if fold, the produce of them, fhall be returned to her, together with whatever be due upon her account; and a certificate fhall be given her, under the hand of the prefident, one of the vice-prefidents, or treasurer, and two or more of the committee, of her good conduct and behaviour during the time of her continuance in the house.

4. Every woman who fhall be placed out in a service from this house, and shall continue one whole year in fuch fervice, to the approbation of her master and miftrefs, upon its being made appear to the fatisfaction of the committee, the committee may give fuch woman a gratuity, not exceeding two guineas, as a reward for her good behaviour.

The committee will, upon the good behaviour of any of the women, intereft themselves to obtain a reconciliation with their parents and friends, in order to their return into the

world:

world; and, upon fuch occafions, their contracts will be cancelled.

6. Besides the vouchers above mentioned, and the advantages arifing from their labour, a bounty may be given, at the difcretion of the committee, to fuch as are properly discharg ed. This bounty will be prefented, not only to those who marry in a manner fatisfactory to the committee, but also to fuch as fhall fet up trades, in whatever way they fhall have gained a proficiency; fo that nothing fhall be omitted which can promote the great ends of preferving life, of rendering that life ufeful, and of recovering thofe who are now loft to the community.

Thefe Rules and Orders will be improved from time to time, as experience may render neceffary.
