PREFACE. These MAGAZINE devoted to the requirements of the enjoy is sufficient and satisfactory evidence. In order to keep pace, however, with the literary demands of the time, we have made arrangements with an eminent female writer, who will, in the next Volume, present our readers with a Domestic Tale of great interest. The other departments of the Work will receive unremitting attention; and we shall make such improvements and variations in our plans as from time to time suggest themselves. Our Preface is anticipatory rather than retrospective; but we cannot refrain from expressing our thanks, in this place, to all those contributors and readers who have aided us with their pens and Midsummer, 1864. |
