Barnes is Director of and Professor in the Department of Thoracic Medicine at the National Heart and Lung Institute, University of London, England, and Honorary Consultant Physician at Royal Brompton National Heart and Lung Hospital, London. Dr. Barnes received the B.A. degree in natural sciences and medical sciences from the University of Cambridge, England, the B.M., B.Ch. degree form the University of Oxford, England, the M.A. degree from the University of Cambridge, and the D.M. and D.Sc. degrees from the University of Oxford.
